Your ducts carry the air for your whole house, but they sit where most homeowners never see: inside walls, above ceilings, and behind attic insulation. If yours are holding heavy dust, debris, mold, or signs of pests, it's worth knowing for sure and getting them cleaned. Transparency Home Services handles air duct cleaning for homes across Bakersfield and Kern County. We explain what we find in plain terms, show you where the problem actually is, and quote the work before doing any of it.
We're a family-owned HVAC company serving Kern County. You get straight answers about what your system needs. No upselling. No unnecessary repairs.
If any of these sound familiar, an inspection will tell you what's actually in there.
Before we clean anything, we look at your current system, your existing filtration, and what's actually driving the concern. Depending on what we find, that can include:
Heavy contamination usually points to an underlying cause, like moisture getting in through leaks. The EPA says that cause has to be corrected or the problem will likely come back, so we look for it too. You get a written estimate before any work begins.
By the EPA's definition, duct cleaning covers more than the ducts. It generally includes the supply and return ducts and registers, grilles and diffusers, heat exchangers, heating and cooling coils, condensate drain pans, the fan motor and housing, and the air handling unit housing. Skip a contaminated part and it can re-contaminate the whole system.
The usual method is specialized tools that loosen dirt and debris inside the ducts, then a high-powered vacuum to pull it out.
Keeping water and dirt out of the system is the most effective way to keep ducts from getting dirty again. Ducts running through an attic or crawl space should be properly sealed and insulated, which helps keep condensation moisture out, and duct sealing and repair handles the leaks. Filters matter too: Comfort Club members get scheduled filter replacement built into their plan.
As needed, not on a fixed schedule. The EPA says to have ducts cleaned when they're visibly contaminated with substantial mold growth, pests or vermin, or clogged with substantial deposits of dust or debris. That's why we inspect first and tell you honestly what we find.
In hard surface ducts like sheet metal, yes, once the moisture causing it is fixed. If the insulation in insulated ducts gets wet or moldy, it can't be effectively cleaned and should be replaced instead.
If dust, odors, or debris have you wondering what's in your ducts, let's take a look. We serve Bakersfield and all of Kern County, and you'll get a straight answer and a written price before any work starts.
